they can also limit an ADSL2+ port to ADSL1 in software too, but there are still ADSL1 only ports out there. regardless, both speeds cost exactly the same.

in context of cable, Elite only exists because not all cable hubs and modems support DOCSIS 3.0 yet.

Yes, Elite is 3.0 (30Mbps) on there site but half the time they don't even know there own products.. I wen't through the same thing with them as you did..

Anyways, i just upgraded and its awesome!! I live near the university and new hospital project so i guess maybe that helps i dunno .. ?

I find it absolutely disgusting that they do this. I guess the majority of people would never know they weren't on ultimate and wouldn't complain.

When I first signed up I was quietly put on Elite instead. After 3 weeks of constantly arguing with lying idiots (including a tech support person who tried to tell me 'due to line losses you just happen to be connecting at the EXACT throttled elite speed, but you are actually on ultimate...felt like punching him in the face), being told 10,000 times to 'reset the modem' and other BS, I finally managed to get it switched to ultimate, by a tech person who took about 5 minutes to change some setting on their computer which fixed it instantly. Very annoying, but apart from that it has been awesome

I tell you guys this, my farther in law is the project manager of the NBN upgrades in Brisbane for Telstra. I'm going to send him a link to this thread, and tell him to pass it on to his people. Because this happens alot from what I see.
And Telstra are going through a business plan to make sure 100% of customers will recommend their product to a friend or family member.
