Default Shed & star trail

I headed out with matt-chops & Alfonzo a few weeks back. I have already shared a shot called Shed and Stars. I managed to stack 45 shots to get a 'Shed & Star-trails' shot. It was tough to edit to get the colours right (due to it being quite dark) and there is a lot of noise, but I thought it was still worth sharing.

i like everything but the fake shadow behind the photo :P

you were lucky with cloud movement too, if i see clouds at all i just put the camera away, should probably give it a go next time.

It almost looks like daylight, care to post a less processed version if you have it handy?

I loved the still photo you posted earlier. I liked the soft clouds between the sharp foreground and stars above. In this shot I guess stacking 45 pics gives that more blurry look to the foreground, especially the grass which I probably would not normally notice except I've seen how good the foreground looked in the other photo. Also the shed doesn't seem to pop out as much, there was more green in the other shot which made it stand out more from the paddock behind. Having said that, it's easily the best foreground of a star trail that I've seen.

I've been looking up heaps of star trail shots in the last week or so and most of them start to look pretty similar after a while. These ones look really unique, they aren't constant lines like most of the shots I see. Are they broken up on purpose? Did you delete a handfull of shots before you stacked or leave an interval between some of the shots? Some might say the trails are a little short (I'm guessing about 30mins worth?) but I like that length. Thats what she said.

My first C&C so feel free to C&C my C&C

Thanks for the C&C! Much appreciated. The breaks in the trails are due to clouds occluding the stars. The trails are short as it was probably only just over 20 minutes worth of shooting.

It was very difficult to get similar colours as my previous shot. This is the first time I have tried to star trail without just a silhouette in the sky. I might have to try to re-edit this one at some stage to remove the noise and get the colours as good as the other one. Thanks for the comments!

Stella stuff. What kind of exposures were you using?

Looks like there's a real lack of detail/sharpness in the foreground.

EDIT: Looks better on your flickr page tbh.

I like the idea + framing, but it is overly muddy and the detail is just not there ( on here and on flickr).

Perhaps try a re-export? Or is it like that in the original file?

Yeah it's all a bit mucky - might have to do a re-edit from the start.

Yep, looks like it's overly compressed or something (kind of like when you load an image in a web browser, it presents a compressed version then loads the sharp version).

Composition is stunning but it's not sharp/clear enough to really appreciate it fully unfortunately. Hope you can get it sorted
