Default The Chopping Board - Adelaide food blog

Hi all

a few mates and I finally decided to start something we always talked about - an Adelaide Food blog.

please comment and make suggestions either here or on the blog

http://www.onthechoppingboard.com

I thought I'd ask here for opinions as we are all geeks and frequent these forums too.

Thanks in advance

I've bookmarked it.

I couldn't find anywhere that explained the name of the blog.

Been thinking of doing this myself, but ill definitely keep this bookmarked, as there's a few places already I haven't been to, and been meaning to try.

Also +1 for the name being a bit

A few gramattical quirks can add a warm colloquial style to a blog like this... but there's a few which are a bit distracting IMO.

Quite a few sentences starting with 'And' in the most recent entry. Whilst it's not written in stone, it should be avoided and only really used for dramatic effect. Same goes with using it after a comma. There's really no flexibility re: capitalising the start of a sentence.

Cant fault the content, pics are great and one must admire a foodie who is willing to do a maccas burger... but maybe just tighten up the prose a little bit? I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure as I emerge from my winter hibernation.

Thanks guys

well, the name came up during a friend's wedding... we were sitting at the table, loaded with wine/beers, etc.. and began talking about creating this blog, and needed a name...

someone, must have been thinking about midgets and blurted it out...

the name has stuck since.

great feedback, thank you - I'll let the guys know.

yes, I'm the t1ghtass blogger who does the fast food blogs... i don't have $$$

we came up with that idea so it can satisfy everyone, not just the fancy diners. we all do lots of cooking too, so we'll be putting more of our own cooking, etc.

keep the comments coming!

press and cofee barun are awesome in Adelaide - perhaps go Yum Cha at Ding Hao or stop in to Saldechin (assuming it's still there?).

Also, next time you head to Melbourne...Huxtable - well worth it!

As for the site, not a massive fan of the wall'o'text style. Links and structure helps to make it more navigatable, but each to their own...

cheers - thanks for the feedback.

so you would think all the reviews should have even less text? or just that awards review should have less text?

The blogs great!

In terms of text, pictures can only tell so much. The point of a review site is to review the food and the restaurant, which needs to be written about. You want pics of nice food check out a food blog.

Note: I don't know the context of the 'and' used after a comma so this might be irrelevant.

I'm not going to read your bog because I don't like the URL and by the sounds of it I wouldn't be able to put up with the punctuation and grammar anyway.

I've heard there is a place in adaleide that does a 1kg steak, you should go review that.

its probably offensive to midgets, i don't find it offensive and i'm not getting offended on their behalf it just has nothing to do with food and sounds intentionally "random"

If i was making a blog about midgets wearing dresses i probably wouldn't put it in the URL "foodieleide.com"

I could use a 1kg steak right now.
