Default deciding what the hell profession to play

I'm torn

was leaning towards elementalist because I like playing mages

but I looked at a thief video and it's AMAZING

I also like hitting stuff with swords

I'm going to try a Ranger first. Tried Elementalist and Mesmer in the past couple stresstests, and dislike how squishy they are. Also tried Guardian and Thief, but not keen on melee, at least until I get a better handle on the controls and movement.

Since there is no level curve and it will take no time to cap, I'll probably do something like Ranger, Elementalist, Necromancer, Guardian and Mesmer. (assuming five char slots in launch).

I played an ele in the BWE's and really enjoyed it. I had a quick go at a ranger in the recent stress test and liked that as well. I'd like to play an ele again so I can learn the rest of the game withouth having to worry about my character to much but I really don't know know. I also want to try a Guardian and Warrior.

Engineer all the way.

It's all ranged stuff so the bad ping won't affect me as much as melee classes would.

Love all the gadets they use too - can't wait!

I want to play Necromancer, I really do. So much about it appeals to me, but history shows pet classes always suffer. The pets never do enough damage and invariably personal damage is lower than a non pet class. The recent buff to pet damage confirms my concern. Elementalist gameplay looks generic but rock solid so will probably go with that.

Pet damage issues in mmo's has, in my experience, always been directly linked to lack of scaling. Given gw2's approach to spvp, I highly doubt this would be an issue.

Was tempted to go Necro, but I've never played an archetypal Rogue class before, so I might try a dual daggers thief.

Though I generally default to a healing class, so Engineer with the med kit and healing turret might be the way to go

peeps, u should have closer look at the necro skills. Its not your run of the mill necro. It has no more pets than the hunter and it has some awesome builds people have used already. Very solid class (but then again, i think theyre all very solid)

I love the Guardian class, can wield a big two handed sword or hammer, set people on fire and buff or heal your team mates.

You get to do a a bit of everything.
