Smile Photographer’s paradise – Iceland

Earlier in the year I came across this thread by daavid85 in the gallery with shots from Iceland. I was impressed and was hoping that I would be able to get there this year. Recently we were in Paris trying to make our way to England but the Eurostar was €500 each, flights were expensive and other option were no cheaper. So I checked flights to Iceland. If we flew out that evening and returned to England a week later it worked out cheaper. So we booked the flight and 5 hours later we were on a plane to Iceland.

We only had 1 week so couldn't really do it justice. We kept mainly to the south and west. Its impressive country, it doesn't really get dark in summer, its twilight from around 9pm to 4am. Anyway here are my shots from the trip.

#1 - Ceiling at Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral - Reykjavík

#2 - Mt Búðaklettur - Snæfellsnesvegur

#3 - Waterfalls at Kirkjufell - Grundarfjörður

#4 - The flow - Grundarfjörður

#5 - Soft waterfalls (water on my lens) - Kirkjufell, Grundarfjörður

#6 - View of Berserkjahraun from Kothraunskúla - Helgafellssveit, Snæfellsnes

#7 - Overview of the Hraunfossar Waterfall, notice that the water is not coming from any river, it flow underground until here where it falls into the river. Was very impressive and unique.

#8 - Details in the Hraunfossar Waterfall

#9 - Old Pier on the Hvalfjarðarvegur Highway

#10 - Something different at Seljalandsfoss

#11 - Svartifoss or Black Falls

#12 - The colosseum surrounds Svartifoss

#13 - Sun bursts over sheep in Southern Iceland

#14 - Late night reflections - Jökulsárlón, Glacier Lagoon

#15 - White on Black, Glacier ice on black sand - Jökulsárlón

#16 - A moody shot of Skogafoss Waterfall

#17 - Eldfell, Last erupted in 23 January 1973 - Vestmannaeyjar

#18 - A pair of Puffins - Vestmannaeyjar

#19 - Flock together, gulls at Vestmannaeyjar

#20 - Puffin on the Right, Whale on the Left. Two things we will not eat again - Vestmannaeyjar

#21 - Wave busts as it hit the rocks - Vestmannaeyjar

#22 - Waves crashing against the rocks - Vestmannaeyjar

C&C welcome.

Thanks
Ben

Nice work. There are some fantastic shots there. I would have to say that 3, 6 and 16 are my favourites.

16 is amazing.

But I also really love 15, simplicity and great contrast between the two.

Great set. Definitely sells the idea of going over for a photographic holiday.

Great shots Brings back some good memories. I never got to try the puffin but I did try whale and horse meat. Did you get a chance to try hakarl? I'm bummed that I forgot my tripod and which resulted in very average pics. We should organise a scandinavian ocau meet!
