Default how to get the 4 speakers for the ba7500 to work?

I just got em from gateway, and its only got digital in.

I heard that the only time they work in 4 speaker mode is when u play dolby digital streams.....

I played windvd, set it to 5.1 CH and played a dvd which is meant to have DD.

but the rear speakers stil do not work?

also is there no way i can get the rear speakers to work w/o a DD stream? like some analogue converter or some shit

In win dvd theres an option called sp/dif out put. I think thats what you have to set it to. this way the card is sending a raw ac3 stream to the woofer and the woofer decodes it into virtual 5.1

Of course this is theoretical, I haven't recieved my speakers yet.

i've also heard the drivers for the sblive can't stream ac3 under win2k.

What soundcard are u using? If its a SBlive, make sure you tick "digital output only" option.

sb live value. also im using liveware 3.0 drivers only, none of that other fancy stuff installed.

in windvd, the spdif is greyed out.

also strange thing, when i dont enable digitial output only, wav and stuff is still heard though the speakers, but my tuner which goes through the line-in can only be heard when digital only is enabled.

"Does "Live!Ware 3.0 for Windows 2000" support AC-3 pass-thru?

A. No, "Live!Ware for Windows 2000" does not support AC-3 pass-thru. Currently, the feature is only supported in Live!Ware 3.0 for Windows 95/98. "

How do you guys find the speakers from Gateway? I've got a 3 piece BA7500G coming from them, wanted to know if they are good?

I get 4 speaker sound for everything. Seeing as you have Liveware installed, try going to AudioHQ and Speaker Setup and make sure you have selected 4 speakers.

If that doesn't work goto,
Windows Control Panel => Sounds and Multimedia => Audio => Advanced and select the Quad speaker option.
