The 4.7in handset is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro running at 1.5GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM, along with either 8 or 16GB of internal storage.

The 1,280x768 IPS display has a pin-sharp 320ppi, only a fraction less than that of the iPhone 5, and integrates its touch layer into the Corning Gorilla Glass for a thinner yet tough outer shell. An 8-megapixel camera on the back of the phone supports Full HD video recording, while the 1.3-megapixel front webcam is perfect for video calls.

The Nexus 4 will be the first Android smartphone to support the QI wireless charging standard, joining the upcoming Nokia Lumia 920 when Windows Phone 8 launches later today. However, one feature it won't include is 4G support - Google has decided against adding LTE in order to keep tighter control on the handset in America, where there are several competing 4G frequencies. It's a major blow in the UK, where EE is about to launch the first 4G network this week.

Available from next month, the Nexus 4 will run an updated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, which Google says is "a new flavour" of Jelly Bean - it adds support for wireless displays technology and many other refinements, including a gesture-based keyboard and lockscreen widget support.

This *might* be my next phone. Still very happy with my Galaxy S2 for the moment though.

Yeah I don't understand why none of the Nexus model phones had expandable storage... Mine's filled to the rim with FLAC music. NEED MOAR SPACE.

Also, just noticed the Optimus G is HD IPS scren, not AMOLED. I really dig the AMOLED screen on the Gnexus.

AMOLED is not as good as IPS or SLCD. Better colour reproduction.

Was very close in making a LG Optimus G2x my next phone. Lack of ROM support is of concern. Still though, very happy with my HTC One X L.

looks/sounds nice enough to me.

as for amoled vs ips, i love both. the amoled screen on my s3 looks brilliant and has awesome contrast, and the super ips+ on my transformer is super crisp and has great viewing angles.

Back looks cool.

I'm just sick of the phones getting bigger, my hands are small and I can't use my 4.6'' screen as it is with one hand.

They should make 4'' nexus again. That was perfect.
