Microsoft beta software.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Especially after what happened to people who tried the DirectX 8.x beta software - many of them couldn't remove the (deactivated because it timed out) beta version, and had to reinstall Windows in order to install the full version of DirectX.

hehe -- but isn't all Microsoft software beta, whether classified as beta or final?

Well we have tested DX9 and it works brilliant. Perfectly table and all the CAD applications run perfect. I have yet to ask them to do a 3DMark2001SE run to see what diff it makes.

They do. I just want to see what the 3DMark2001SE score is. And considering we thought it was low cos we used 3DMark2001 (non-SE) which gives a lower score it should be a lot higher.

If you are refering as to why DX9 fixed it. Hmm no idea. Coudl have updated the OpenGL driver or it might be the DX9 beta ATi drivers that fixed the problem. Overall who cares. It works.

According to another forum goer, he tried DX9 and the new DX9 ATi Drivers and he got about 600ish more points for 3dmark.

Cant wate to get my rig back up and try these drivers....

ps
dont use the DX8 drivers with DX9 and vice versa, you will see mega slowdowns from what ive read and been told

I cant seem to get it to work

I have tried two Beta 3 releases, the web installer and also the #WiNBETA Repack. Both give me exactly the same problem, everything works until it comes up with some Windows Logo testing crap and says it cannot be installed due to not being certified. I have always run Windows File protection off, to auto ignore and accept files that have not been certified and also have System restore off. I was running non-WHQL 40.72s and had no success with the WHQL either...
