Default Worth water coolin C300A slot 1???

Celeron 300A slot 1 malay..................

Is it worth buyin a pump and some scrap copper to mill up a water block to chill this cpu for a extream Oc experiment??

I have everything bar a pump, was thinking about a pond pump for $60 from bunnings, what do you guys think, it would cost me about $90 in total for pump and materials to mill up a water block, my girl friends dad has a metal lathe he said i can use

What ya think i could get outta it, 550 maybe??? I can push 473 with stock hsf, 2.2 volts core, with better colling could maybe drop the core back to 2volts...............

Thoughts guys and gals?????

Mate, you can do that. It'd kick ass too, or you can prolly get a new celeron for $120 to $150 or so that'll do 1000

Don't quote me on those prices but i think they are about right.

- for referance I've got a PII300@562 running stable at 2.2v straight water cooled and I'm sure she'd do more with a peltier.

I have 2x 128mb pc133 sticks..........CAS 3 i think, havent really fiddled with the CAS settings

Motherboard of choice, Abit Bf 6, same as be 6 without the ata100 onboard

The fsb is in 1Mhz incriments from 83 to 200..............

Currently got it sitting on 100Mhz. Only problem with this mobo is the crap selection of AGP dividers, only 1/1 or 2/3. This could turn out to be a problem

I was thinking of playing with this celeron before i get a faster one, so if i kill it is like no big loss!!!

It's pay day tommorow, yay!! I'm off to bunnings

yeah, Might as well give it a go. Trust me on this, you'd have to do something VERY silly to break a PPGA or Slot1 celeron. They are built like sherman tanks.

Use a hair dryer to heat up the thermal tape. It should slip right off!

Just unplug the cpu fan and let it heat up till it get's REAL hot, one thing i'm not sure of is if it's a Socket 370 or Slot1 model. If it's the slot take it out and use 2 small flat head screw drivers and push the clips on the fin side of the heatsink, just push towards the hole, You can prolly even do them one by one. If it's a socket CPU, just undo the clip and pull the heatsink off, if it's really suck to the CPU take it out and remove with a butter knife.

if it's the kind of clip i'm thinking off it'll sorta actually clip inside the top of the heatsink, just take a look at it, and push the bits... Damn, figure out a way to get the heatsink off, just use some logic in doing so, Brute force won't work well. I just can't explain how to remove it properally :/
