I've got a gaming rig in production that is just waiting for these to be released...

Looking forward to see the improvement over my GTX970.

Though I'm in the same boat I'm getting very tempted to move away from 1920x1200 to a 3440x1440 ultra wide. I don't think the 980 is going to cut the mustard for that res.

What took you so long DM?

I dont really need this but it will be fun to bench one, and maybe I can get back to ultra settings in game too.

I'm looking forward to both the Pascal and the Polaris launches - want to upgrade screen res from 1920x1200, preferably to 3840x2160 but current single card options are a tad limiting for this, and I'm positive my current 970 won't cut the mustard lol. Will be eagerly waiting for the details!

is there an actual date for release yet?

in ever other thread about upgrading or graphics cards all i've seen is "hold off... pascal is coming in the next couple of months" and this started more then a couple of months ago.

Nvidia reportedly showing off Pascal at ‘editor’s day’ next week

Quote:
Apparently two Pascal GPUs will be making an appearance, which we would assume will be the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. According to the report, it is unclear if the details of this event will be kept behind closed doors and under NDA for a while, or if it will be live-streamed to the public. If a public unveiling happens, then Nvidia would be bumping up its Pascal announcement by a few weeks, as previous rumours suggested that the new cards would first appear at Computex.
Last year’s Editor’s Day took place a week before the announcement of the GTX 980, so it is possible that by the second or third week of May, we will have the official announcement, and potentially even some reviews for these two new graphics cards.

I'd hazard a guess and say reference cards are going to be shorter, due to having lower power requirements, hense less power circuitry.

If they wont be running HBM i would expect most cards to be identical size as current 980 and 970. If my Classified block would fit the new model I could be tempted onto new hardware.
