Default [BUILD] Another VORON 3D Printer - V025

This is a 3D printer build that strings off the concepts and ideas in the VORON printer, but due to salvaging all my existing hardware off my old timber printer I am going to modify and adapt it to utilise those parts...

Frame: 2020 T-Slot (440mm X 440mm X 510mm)
Hotend: E3D Lite6 V6 Kit
Shafts: 10mm Rods and LM10UU bearings
Threaded Rod: M8 Stainless Rod

Others:
- Aluminium Heated Bed
- DELL 12V 19A power supply
- Ramps 1.4 Board
- GT2 Belts and Idlers
- NEMA17 Motors
- CoreXY
- Custom Z-Axis
- Inductive bed levelling
- LED strip lighting
- Boxed enclosure

Heres the first batch of build pics, will update as i go along over the next few weeks...

Day Two:

Started working on the extrusions now they are cut to size, threaded the ends with and M6 tap (was hoping for M5 but the extrusions have a 5mm hole so had to go M6)

Which led to the first issue of the M6 button screws not fitting into the aluminium corner cubes...

Ended up having to grind down the tops a bit and found that just edging the sides and putting them all in while loose worked the best.

Once that worked, finished putting together the extruded cube ready for the first measure and mockup

Spent the rest of the day getting the Laser cutter back up and running so i can cut some mock up parts so stay tuned for more soon.

Day Three:

Started with some conceptual cuts for the AB axis...

Took that to MDF and then test fit was quite successful, few changes to make but mounts solid and clears the side to allow panels to enclose the printer

(remember this is upside down at the moment)

And with the Z axis bracket inserted, still allows for 400mm Z height (will be a bit less when the bearings go on)

So now just making some adjustments to the CAD drawings and will recut the final brackets tomorrow.

wohoo just finished mocking up the Y-axis and it looks like i will be able to get just over 300mm of travel with the steppers fitted

should be able to get about the same from the X-axis and theoretically i can get about 370mm height out of the Z-axis but will be less with the drivers and PSU fitted at the bottom.

Has been a little while between updates, after playing with some designs, I had to order some different length screws for assembly as well as some additional corner brackets. They arrived this morning.

Here was a quick one of the first design idea that I eventually scrapped and came up with a better solution that I will get assembled this weekend hopefully.

With this design I was going to lose about 50mm of travel at each end of the Y-axis, with the new design, I think I have it down to hopefully around 30-50mm total if all goes well so a theoretical Y-movement of close to 350mm with the width of the X carriage which is next to be designed...

Long time coming, first print complete and its quieter than my Dyson fan AND better than a print I ever got from my i3 inspired previous printer!!! wow, very impressed!

And you can see here, Marvin wet himself he was so excited!

- no endstops, eyeballed Z height zero and level
- E3D Lite6 0.4mm end
- no print fan
- Slic3r default settings
- 0.3mm layer height
- 2 year old PLA been sitting in air in garage

plenty of room for improvement now!
