I agree that fps is client side and am not trying to explain why increased fps should cause lag. To be honest, it makes no sense to me either. However, those high rates will cause lag outs. And as I said, the only reason I would link them to the fps problem is that it is exactly the same symptoms my younger brother had when he had his cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate set high and if he upped his fps he lagged out. Worth a try even if it doesn't appear logical.

there is no doubt that setting your cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate so high is redicoulous for internet play..not to mention i thnik the rates are hard coded at the to 60
12qwasyx do you know what these settings do you are trying to send and recieve updates to/from the server at 100 times PER SECOND and your wondering y you are lagging out guess what mate your on the internet ..not a lan... obviously your computer is spending too much time processing redundant data ... 100 times a second do you make over 100 movements/actions per second mate theres not much room for processing video data... if you play on optus cs servers the maximum rate of the server is 6000 setting your rate above this will increase your latency try setting your rate to 9999.0000 as this will auto adjust your rate to the medium rate of the server cl_updaterate 20 cl_cmdrate 30 fps_max 30 - 100 (yes 30 after all tv is displayed at 25 - 30 fps) are you on cable or dial up..if dial up you should lower the settings even more |
