Default SONOS app - any solid alternatives?

The SONOS app is great, and seems to be the best integration of NAS tunes/ streaming services within a single UI, but minimum entry to this platform is a Connect unit- ~$500

Wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives? I don't particularly care about multi room, but multi-remotes and support for NAS/streaming services is a must.

What are you streaming to? You can try Chromecast Audio for starters.

My ideal music system needs to stream from online plus play locally stored (NAS) files, to my main speaker system; all remote controlled via phone/tablet.

So far SONOS is the only system that fits.. although I probably have to use chromecast for youtube music.

Plex is a single app. You only have the server portion on your NAS (rather then direct sharing) then you control everything via the phone app.

Does it support streaming audio services? I can't find any reference to that.

It will stream audio that is on your nas.

As for spotify/tune in etc you just use their native apps to push to a chromecast audio.

Yeah cheers, that's what I thought. Really want it all in one app, so far only Sonos and Denon HEOS fit that bill.

There is an app for YT for Sonos. SonosTube or something.

On a side note - just by any old Sonos Connect or ZP90 second hand - same unit, and they never last forever. I've never had a Sonos unit die in over 10 years of dealing with them. Well, there was one, but when someone leaves a unit outside in the rain...

I've bought ZP100's for $100.
