Default D850 thread

Right, we've had a pretty lacklustre announcement of a future announcement. But we do know some things. And some interesting speculation going on.

Latest and most interesting is that it may actually have a hybrid viewfinder.

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/compe...d-evfovf-dslr/

Nikon rumours has announced that it will have 4K video with no crop. This is interesting. Especially if they have come up with some kind of dual pixel like focusing.

i expect it to be pretty much top of the tree for IQ when it comes out (35mm wise)

EVF would be great but it depends on how good the live-view is, it needs to be proper on sensor PDAF.
After shooting Sony it feels useless going back to nikon live-view.

A bit higher FPS would be great, if it can push 8fps and uses XQD it becomes a viable sports body

Yeah, Nikon's live view has sucked bad. They are going to have to have made huge improvements for anything to do with an EVF to be viable.

oh well, hopefully they've still done something about live view...
Faster than 8fps is good, not sure if they will encroach on the D5 rate but probably a similar shutter mechanism.

I'd need a dual pixel AF system for me to consider the switch from Canon. 4K in FX sounds like a great idea, wonder if they can do 4K at 60fps? Would hope for a log gamma for it to be worthwhile.

From a stills perspective, obviously hanging out to see what the low light sensitivity is like with the resolution bump. Maybe it'll be enough to trigger the switch - hopefully my 1DX II doesn't take too much of a price hit...!

For a brief moment....

On the bright side it now looks like I have no reason to upgrade now. But seriously wondering how much more money I want to spend in the Nikon ecosystem?

Why is this not just a mirror-less camera with a Included F mount Adaptor?

Because it wasn't a mirrorless camera to start with? Nikon already has a separate mirrorless camera in development anyway.

I'm praying for the new mirrorless line to be F mount or be able to adapt to F mount.

The new Nikon mirrorless will have to be F Mount, to give it any chance against the Sony E Mount.

Just like I believe the new Canon mirrorless will be EF mount. The Canon M mount has a lousy lens selection.

Both of these if they come true would be a HUGE mistake on the part of Canon and Nikon. Canon thankfully will not make this mistake, as they already have EFM lenses.

The whole reason for the smaller lighter lenses is the redesign and using retro focus DT motor lens designs which is used by the majority of m43, X and E mount lenses that make them fast and silent to focus.

Neither Canon or Nikon took mirrorless seriously. In a short 4 years Sony has created great bodies like the A7 series and A9 and now has over 100 (F)E Mount lens from several lens makers.

Neither Canon or Nikon can offer such a selection of mirrorless lens. So they have to use their DSLR lens, and if they don't they will put offside most of the existing DSLR user base.

I hear what you are saying, but inaction by Canikon means it will not happen, it's too late.

Lack of any real interest shown by photographers in general.
i.e. too little market, at this point in time.

Seriously looking at getting a D850 if its performance in low light is as good or better than the D810.

If the rumors are right, back illuminated buttons will be a plus, alongside the 45MP sensor.

Be keen to see what you can get with 8K time-lapse video capabilities the camera is being touted to have.
