Default WHAT PARTS TO USE and WHERE TO BUY belong in the "What/Where Should I Buy?" forum

there have been too many what/where should i buy threads posted in here lately.

i think we've been pretty tolerant of them so far, but that's now about to be changed.

from now on, threads asking for advice on what to buy (be it hardware, software or complete systems) or where to buy won't be moved, they will be closed.
this includes threads where you already have a list of the hardware you want to buy and are getting opinions on it.

if you wish to make such a thread, i suggest you do so in the correct forum.
What/Where Should I Buy?

thanks.

EDIT: threads will be closed without notice.

this sticky is clearly visible for all to see, so there really is no reason for anyone to not know the rule. except perhaps for some new members who may be still finding their feet.
i'll usually post a link to this thread if it is a new member.

If you see a what/where thread (or any thread that doesn't belong here, for that matter) please use the "report this post" function.
It looks like this: and you'll find it at the bottom left of every post.

not all what/where threads can be spotted simply by looking at the title and the admins don't have the time (or patience) to read every single thread.

the newbie lounge is primarily used to provide a safe flame free zone for newbies to ask the questions that would normally be laughed at in the other forums.
or for people still finding their feet in the world of computers.
it is not here to ask what parts to buy or where to buy them.
you're not going to get laughed at for that.

if you have a question about how to connect a part, or how to upgrade a part, or even "will this part work with my other parts", then go for it. it won't be closed, but sometimes those threads turn into threads better suited to the what/where forum and may be closed. so you have to be careful.

the rule is pretty simple, if it's a question about what to buy, or where to buy it, it belongs in the what/where forum.

it isn't compulsory for newbies (or even experience users who are new members to the forum) to post in the newbie lounge. they're free to post in any forum. this forum is simply a safe haven for those that have questions that are generally so simple for those who have more experience they would probably get laughed at or flamed in other forums.
a good example was someone asking what people meant when they were talking about their computer posting, or not being able to post.

when you're asking about what or where to buy something in the what/where forum, you're pretty much safe from flaming and laughing.
