CPU upgrade

I have a Epox EP-6VBA http://www.epox.com/html/motherboard...EP-6VBA&lang=1

and i am looking to upgrade my p3: 500 to something faster....say 1ghz? (The retailer said that this was possible when i first bought the machine) or at least upgrade it. What chips would i be looking for? (i do not want to get a new mobo)

So, i won't be able to buy a faster 2nd hand p3 chip and just chuck it in? Could i do that?
