Default 'overclocking' my Lite-on burner

Howdy,

I have a Lite-on 48x12x48 ( LTR-48126S ) august 2002 and Ive heard that you can flash them to make em faster???

If someone well versed (someone who has done it a few times before and knows wtf they are talking about ) could help me out I would be appreciative.

Matt.

Let me know if you still want your old one fixed, they come in handy for a spare.
No no, this was supposed to be a new thread

I'll probably get you to take a look at it, Ill wait until the end of the week though, that way I have the $$ to post the thing

Thanks.

the thing about flashing the firmware of a burner to make it faster, is there has to be a faster burner than it.

does liteon make a faster burner than the one you have?
if they don't, then you can't do it.
if they do, then it's possible you might be able to flash it's firmware to your burner. which will result in one of two things.

either a faster burner, or a dead burner.

is it really worth the risk to save a few seconds on a burn?

i agree with looktall on the pointless flashing. at 48*12*48 thats fast enough, u'll save almost nothing trying to go to th 52*24*52 (fastest they have atm), except for perhaps the re-writeables. imho its not worth the risk of a dead burner.

It turns out I can do it. But after some thought I have decided not to.

Im burning at 40x speed (cheap cd's) and its plenty fast enough
