Default Probably a noob question: SATA and ide drivers.

Well, I have been using this brand spanking new A78nx for a few days now. Worst waste of money ever, so far, because i'm using win2k and therefor do not have a nvidia IDE driver for my system. Programs pretty much load slower than on my old duron.

But anyway, my question is this: if I were to use a SATA drive on the SATA controller built into this board, would the same IDE driver be used on that device aswell, or a driver specific to the SATA controller manufacturer? I ask this because if I were to get a SATA drive and have it run just as slow as this current barra 4, that too would be a bloody waste of money My only other option I see having is going scsi, but that could cost me upwards of a grand, and there's more things in life to spend my hard earned on

Try the NT one. Alternately try XP. Make sure you turn off the gui and effects.

the SATA would use its own set of drivers, not nvidia ide ones
