Default LITEON 48x12x48 PROB!!!

I could say that i am a proud owner of a 48X12X48 Liteon CDRW since i didn't pay for it. I just gave the guy my old TEAC X4.
I have problems with the drive.
I am writting data cds and my Pioneer DVD106s won't read them. It spinns and stops and again until i get an error. The same happens with my LG cdrom. It's a 48X and it does the same. I have to mention that only in these 2 devices i have that problem. Other friends who tried the cds, nobody had any trouble.
When i am writting audio cds it always write at 48X and both my CDROM and DVDROM reads it. ?????? IS it only data that is crap???
The media i use are VERBATIM, PHILIPS, SONY, INTENSO.
My previous TEAC never ever did anything like that.

Any ideas????????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Souds more like a problem with your other drives, perhaps try a firmware update to your pioneer DVD & see if it works.

My Pioneer work great with all the other cds that is not written by my Liteon. It was also a gift in the begining of Octrober and was already shipped with the latest firmware. This is the case for my cdrom also. Latest firmware as well. Anyway i did flash them again and no improvement was made.STill the same!!!

WHY do i have to be so unlucky!!!!!!

It's one of those things.

I had a Samsung cdrom once. It never likes reading cd's from PC Authority mag. Funny thing was when I had a Creative (made by Samsung), it didn't seem to have the same problem.

Same goes for a Samsung DVD. It never liked reading unofficial dvds.

I have the 40x Liteon, and although I don't have the specific problem of All CDs the Liteon makes, some, mainly CDs I have created via ISO do not want to be read on the 106s.

I'm fairly certain it comes down to a single Nero option such as "Finalise CD' or something similar, I haven't had the time to try out some options.

Try turning OFF Multisession and Do not finalise the CD.

Wow, what a dummy spit!

Um, your CD ROM might be a bit old, try some blue surfaced CDRs lower burn speeds etc, as for the Pioneer drive, I had one (old pioneer) that was fine with DVDs but not CDs at all (it seems to be a problem with many pioneer CD/DVD mechanisms) It was (mostly) a head alignment problem. You can try to adjust it yourself if you want to experiment.

Would you control your emotions a bit??? Are you 14 years old and if you are and you want advice from adults then try to write like one. Or, if you can't handle the heat...

It occus to me that your DVD drive may be useless. Take it back : ) The CDRs seem OK.

Alternately, you have just installed new hardware. Now, you say they play audio, hmmmm that could be being piped through the analogue connector. The IDE link alone could be shot - one sure way to get the IDE all razzed up is to mess up your master and slave settings when you put the new hardware in and (possibly but not likely) the location of the drives on the IDE cable. If I were you I would be checking the jumpers regardless of how sure I was that I had it right. Remember 1 master and 1 slave per IDE controller (= per MOBO socket)

Also, have you tried to use a raid controller to attach the CDROMs?

PS: if it was any of these probs you have every cause to feel like an utter gumby. If not, I am not trying to insult your intelligence but the immaturity of your posts and your lack of sucess so far suggests to me that mabe you are green enough to have missed the simple things. Once again, good luck.

That deal sounds a little too good to be true - I think a liteon would generally be worth more than an old X4. I think you've got a dud burner.
