no, nothing wrong.
That is in idle, with room at 31 C and 1333@1450MHz That is after 10 minutes 3Dmark 2001 in highest resolution with 1333@1575 with increased core voltage ![]() As you can see, it all depends on your environment. What board do you have? Is the temp taken in-socket or directly from the bottom of the CPU (Gigabyte and MSI boards) Last edited by chainbolt; 2nd July 2001 at 1:39 AM. |

I forgot to mention that I employ the best (hope so) HSF money can buy (the big Swiftech) .
You may consider to hack the register, that brings your temps down IN IDLE, pronto by 8C. You need to little applets to change the register 62 from B3 to B7, that tells the CPU to throttle down/reducing cycling, when in idle state. let me know, when you want to know more. |

For an athlon 1.2 gig what would be the maximum temp it would be safe running at.. Would be nice to know so i can set the threshold in AsusProbe about 5-10 degrees below it so i will know if its getting too hot =)

be warned, the asus probe isnt accurate. we just uninstalled ours as it was giving weird readings. there has been a few people complaining of it in a few forums. Ours spiked 50 C in a second the other nite to 95 C. Heard another guys hit 125C.
We've swapped it for the Motherboard monitor which is freeware and can be found at tweakfiles RaD |

The more important point is that CPU temp readings taken by ASUS boards are in general 10C too low, I think. Why? Did you ever check how the CPU temp is taken at your board? It's by an in-socket sensor, far away from your CPU. If you have a bottom touch sensor like the Gigabyte or MSI board have, you see the truth, which is up to 10C higher under load. |

fair point dude, but he has a 1.2 running at 55 by his readings which you believe could be 10 degrees hotter.
our 1.3 runs between 39-43 with just a FOP38. I believe the difference in temperatures to be a more pressing point. That temp is too high especially when we're talking by a 10 degree margin unstressed on a smaller capacity unit. again, my opinion only ![]() RaD |
