Skeg: I've had that idea for use where I work. We have about 50 odd machines sitting in the store (from Cel333 up to Cel1Ghz) as well as one Server that's currently a P3 667 or something else quite lame. But multiply that by the 150 odd stores we have as well as some of the bigger stores will have quite a few more machines and much faster servers there would be a fucleload of SETI units.

But then reality hits and I'd certainly lose my job when (not if) caught and prolly go to jail. Which would take all the fun out of it...

psycho - It could be worth it for a whole heap of WU's but I think its would not be prison thats the bad part, but the obligitory "dont touch a computer for 5 year after" that would really hurt... imagine screaming to the top of the OCAU rankings and then not be able to see it and gloat because of a court order

Prisons have computers, so what's the problem. Psycho could even pimp them for his cause if he got caught.

Of the 10 computers that are crunchin' for me, I technically only own 2 of them, but I'm baby sitting my parents house for a year, so I'm using my mum's Celery 533 24/7 for SETI as well. But of the 7 I have at work here, 4 of them are in our server room (inc the Dual PIII/1Ghz ), and the other 3 are in my office and used by me only. So I'm not sure if that is officially 'pimping'.

But like everyone here, I'm looking towards getting my Tax return and putting it towards some more personal SETI power.

It seems to be the time for anniversaries these last few weeks. Aug 2nd (Berkeley time) will be my 2 year SETI anniversary. Although I didn't seriously start crunching 'til NOV last year when I joined Team Green OCAU.

Watch your back THX....

My tax return will be pretty much be immediately spent on my car, getting some work done it.... can't spend everything on computers.

I have to confess that yes, some of my tax return will indeed go into my car as well. Speaking of which, does anyone know someone that wants to buy a 1985 Transam

I'll let it go for a OCAU special price of $14,500. I've got a few things I need to have done to it yet before it's fit for sale though

why oh why oh why???
I just checked one of my pc's (p4 1.6 w/512 SDRAM) it had been crunching since it's last dump on monday morning, but it has become stuck on a wu that says it is processing in 214 hrs and it is about 40% through at the moment. normally it shuffles through at the rate of 4 a day, but because of this monster wu it hasn't completed but one....not happy, grrrrrr
