The no1 question that i'm sure people ask themselves when building a watercooled system.
The question for all. What pump are you using ? what kind of setup (inline or submeresed) open or closed loop and how much did it cost and where can one be found. My problem is i don't have a decent pump that i trust and can go inside of my case. I want to run a fully closed loop system (as aposed to pissing water everywhere j/k) that can run fully self contained once sealed and checked. Goals. A high quality pump. Affordable ($150 and down) Ability to run inline Quiet decent flowrate able to pump warm water (my current pump says don't use water above 35.C) Please please post

They say Eheim make the best fish tank pumps in the world. If your tank pump stops you could loose $1000's in fish, depending on the setup, so they are made to go forever.

For under $150, I'd suggest the Eheim 1048. Very quiet, can be used inline or submersed.
The best 600l/hr unit on the market. If you want the datasheet, let me know. Cheers, Jeremy |

Please Jeremy
A datasheet would be nice. At the moment, i'm not realy concerned about CPU temp. With my setup i was using as in the waterpump in bucket with no radiator i was able to easily maintain a CPU temp of 38.C or so under full load. I'd be cheering if it stayed under 45.C while remaining absolutely near silent. I'm designing the system for absolute quiet while attempting to maintain performace for the summer months.

Another pump readily available in Australia that I've had great success with is the Maxijet 750 - this can usually be picked up for around $75, and after some simple impeller mods it operates silently with mains-pressure like power.

This q/a has been very informitive about which pupm to use in a water cooling setup, i was thinking about setting up a water cooled system on my old p1 200mmx when i soon get a celeron and mobo, just to play around with it a bit.
I have my 200mmx @ 250, 3.2 core and 3.52 io plane, and the cpu gets to hot to be stable in the summer months, even with a coolmaster socket370 HSF. if i choose water cooling, im hope i can push 266Mhz out of this cpu, even with the HSF, 266 is only stable for a hour or so, then it gets to hot and BSOD!!!! Who knows, maybe i can even get 300, a few people have manage to achieve this with extream cooling methods such as that mentioned above........ |

Hi people, good to see all you folks again.
On Eheim 1048 & 1046 pumps, the first thing I do is to trim plastic Inlet and Outlet and install 3/8" brass fittings. However the Eheim 1250 (317 gph) and 1060 (600 GPH) have very large fittings. Dangerden shows examples of reducer kits at http://www.dangerden.com/mall/pumps.asp Glad the forums are back Cheers Amy =

Toranaguy: I had a rio pump that died on me after about 4 or 5 months 24/7 use,It was just pure luck I was sitting at the computer when it died and I noticed the MBM temps rising and I shut it off before meltdown.
Since then I can only say, Eheim all the way AMY: Welcome back

ToranaGuy: Given your system I'd have thought it be better to put money into a new cpu/mobo rather than into watercooling.. Unless of course you just want to use that system as a test dummy before moving onto bigger and better things...

When putting together my WC rig I spent the extra money and got an eheim 1250. All I can say is that I've never been sorry I got it. It's so satisfying when people ask if the pump is actually on when it's cranking water through like buggery
![]() Currently rebuilding my system. If all goes well there'll be some nice pics within a fornight or so
