Question Matrix Reloaded Samsung mobile phone question

I recall reading somewhere that Samsung are releasing a mobile phone to coincide with the new movie.

I am buggered if I can find a web site that gives a price. I do recall reading an an Aussie PC Mag who did a mini preview on it an estimated price.

Anyone know?

This is the phone as seen in The Matrix Reloaded.

Hosted by UGBox Image Store

If you click here, you can see the phone Samsung are releasing. It's a little different, but I'll forgive them.

So, who else is buying one of these babies?

The phone being sold by Samsung is exactly the same as the one in the movie. The earpiece pops out, so this is what might be making you think they are different.

I tried one a few days ago and imho it looks dog ugly. Its also pretty chunky. Internally its very similar to the T400.

RRP will be about $1000-1100

Not quite. It is the same as the one shown in The Final Flight of the Osiris, but compare it to the one Niobe is holding.

As shown on the website, the released one will have a colour screen and the screen also looks substantially bigger than Niobe's. Once the ear piece pops out, you can tell that the 'arms' holding it are also slightly different form Niobe's. Niobe's has no roller thing with two buttons on the side as the one shown by Samsung does. Niobe's also has a keypad arrangement of 4x3 + 1x2 while the released has 5x3. Niobe's also has a different mouthpiece with one rectangle and a larger one above it. The released version only has one rectangle. The shape of the phone itself is different; Niobe's being fatter and then getting thinner at the bottom following the different button arrangement. The 'border' of Niobe's also follows this line and has two circles at the bottom and top not appearing on the shown phone. Other differences I see as being very minor.

do you have any other pics of the phone in the movie?

the reason i'm saying is because the samsung rep showed me a shot of the phone lying on the ground (from Matrix Reloaded), and that one was the same as the one i used.

Where'd you use that?

And I agree, it looks quite... tech, not classy this time round (probably more in keeping with the movie's theme)

Spoke to Samsung directly.

Apparently they are releasing a phone circa June/July 2003 called V200. RRP $1100-$1200.

This is where I got confused. Apparently two phones are being released but only the V200 will be available in Aust.

The uglier one (which is CDMA) will only be based overseas.

The uglier one is based on the movie. The V200 is kinda based on the one in the movie. The movie one is modified slightly.

some samsung reps recently came down from Korea, and i got to meet them

yeah the V200 will be released here soon, i'm getting a review unit for it within the next week which means they will be released in the next month or two. actually australia was pretty slow in getting the V200, it was released around 2 months ago in the US.

the next Samsung phone i'm really looking forward to is the Samsung SGH-D700....all i can say is WHOA

Kasar, the image of the phone on the ground, I take it that there is also someone lying next to it? Is it this one? Clicky! Clicky! If so, that image is from the Animatrix movie The Final Flight of the Osiris. It looks like a cross between The one Niobe is holding and the one shown on the infoSync World website. The phone's website also mentions something about there being two models of phones. Perhaps there will be a The Final Flight of the Osiris one as well as a The Matrix Reloaded one.
