Question OUTLOOK 2002: How do you "flush" its e-mail cache?

Hi All,

I have OUTLOOK 2002 (part of OFFICE XP 2002) and need to know how do I delete or "flush out" its contacts, or e-mails that I have responded but not kept as permanent contacts.

In other words, I hate this guy X with an e-mail of X@X.ORG, and in the past I have responded to his e-mail, so everytime I try to compose an e-mail and it starts with X, his freaking X@X.ORG shows up...I know, I know, before you tell me how to go into options and DISABLE the auto-complete feature, I need a REAL solution to get rid of this...

Many thanks in advance!

Thanks, but seems like, non of the Rules either from an already built-in template or a blank rule apply to my case. Hmm...

well i know that if you still recieve email from X than you can tell Outlook to place emails from that person to wherever (eg. Trash)

maybe you should try that.

but since you have the problem of that person being in your address book.
go to:
tools --> address book
and manually delete him

hide it??

did you try and DELETE the emails from the address book though?
cause if you delete them, than you shouldn't get auto-complete's anymore

Uh, yes. I have deleted EVERY single instance of it, but when I click on NEW button to compose a new message, when I enter its first couple of letters it still shows up (unless of course I "hide it")

are there any contacts in ur address book you want to keep?

cause the alternative is to create a NEW address book file without the X type of people in them

No, this X is not listed in my Contacts folder, I have even deleted the contents of this folder, but the minute I compse a message, its e-mail shows up.

I think I have to DISABLE this auto-complete feature and "pretend" that it is gone...I hate M$

this should fix that than:
Under When sending a message, clear the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields check box.

this may also help:
Turn off automatic name checking and completion
On the Tools menu, click Options.
Click E-Mail Options.
Click Advanced E-Mail Options.
Do one or more of the following:
Turn off automatic name checking

When the name comes up in cacbe, simply delete it. This deletes it from the cache.
