My parent's Sony stereo system no longer has a functioning CD/Tape player, so I can take the speakers for myself. However, I'm not sure how I can use them for my PC. My hardware knowledge is poor at best, limited to plugging in cords
![]() If the stereo speakers used the same kind of cords that computer speakers use, I wouldn't have a problem, but the stereo speakers seem to use wires (black and red), with exposed ends. Is there any way to use the stereo speakers for my PC? Also, my power supply is shiite...will the stereo speakers need the computers power supply? I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm hoping somenoe can point me in the right direction ![]() Regards, Sastan |

You need to get an amp mate.
Speakers plug into an amplifier, and the output from you sound card plugs into the amp. Did the stereo they have have an auxilary input? If it does and the stereo still works on say radio or something, then get a 3.5mm headphone jack to stereo RCA cable (dick smiths or tandy will have these) and plug the headphone end of it into the LINE OUT on your soundcard and the RCA's into the AUX IN on the stereo (leave the speakers connected to the stereo as they were) Then turn the stereo on and change to auxilary (u know how most you can select between, tape, cd tuner etc). Make sure you wave and master volumes on your sound card (go to the volume control and properties) are turned right up. This should let you play sound through the stereo.
