OK my girlfriend has been hinting for an MP3 player to take jogging, so I have $500 saved up to spend on her b-day.
The requirements are: Small (<40g) & wearable Flash-card upgradeable ID3 display Long-ish battery life FM Radio Voice recorder USB 2.0 Interface preferable Any suggestions of current/upcoming models (I have till July) Cheers Sjobeck |

The new Apple iPod.
www.apple.com.au/ipod It costs $595, holds 10gb, is superbly compact, and I think the 10gb model comes with USB 2.0 support (I'm not positive, but I an positive the 15gb and 30gb models do). If you're a full time tertiary student, you can score a discount on the iPod too =) No radio or voice recording though. Buggered if I know why you'd want those anyways. I guess if you *really* want them, look into a Minidisc recorder. They have a mic input so you could record onto that. Dunno what kinda models you'd get for around $500 though.

Yeh, the iPod is a good choice... with the new models coming out, the older 10gig models (still good) will be under 500...
But not sure if good for jogging or that light weight... There are heaps of models you could buy... personal preference.. look them up online |

Anyway, 190T is a pretty good choice, 256mb, voice/FM recording, USB1.1(but you only have 256mb), very light, everything a girl needs. The only con i can see is the price, i don't know why it sells so expensive in Australia (i emailed a guy from iriver, and he suggests it's due to the tax difference, what a load of crab), you can probably try to get it from its Korean website if you happen to know some Korean guys, it will cost between $300-$400, i'm not sure how they convert different currencies. A 180T will cost you at around $350 in Australia, so if you can do math, you'll see what i mean. Good luck. |
