Talking 2100+ @ 2.1***

i pushed the fsb up to 166
no voltage changes
just 2 c if it boots

and it does, it boots into windows, plays splintercell, completes 3dmark2001se and sisoft sandra burn in test

this surprised me cause the only coolin is a volcano 7+ @ high speed
and psu fan

its back @ stock now
till i get my new case and case fans reinstalled

by after the burn in test the temp read
cpu 24'C
mb 27'C

yay 4 me
any1 else had this kinda luck

two questions:
1. what does the green cpu die mean
2. how do i tell cpu code (Serial number) without takin heatsink off?
i cn it somewhere cant remember where though
danx

13x166 = 2158

If it can do that on default voltage, then im sure it can do alot more

My old TB did 2166 with an extra 0.15v and maxed out at 2390

1. Some people think the different core colours are an indication of overclockability, something about which part of the wafer the die was cut from. Not too sure about this though, but I've heard highly reflective blue cores are the go. If you are talking about the substrate colour however, I think that they are just cosmetic differences.

2. If you want the full stepping information, there is no way to do it other than looking at the chip itself.

Yeah, apparently the 8RDA+ doesnt read the temps properly so I'd say add on around 10C for your correct temps

thanx for the colour tip, and damn, takin chunks of copper off of ur cpu is not fun and a little risky

yeah its an asus board so from previous experience the temps r + or - 10'c, and i got them mixed up

mb - 24'c
cpu - 29'c

oh well at least i have a visually appealing green cpu
which i cant c cause of the hsf

"which is good cause green so does not go with the shitty brown of my mb, u silly goose u"

Sorry for jumping in on your thread dude, but I have an identical setup to yours, and I thought I'd share my experiences. Rather than starting another thread.

As you can see from my sig, I've got an 8RDA+ with a 2100+ I knew these babies are good oc'ers but here's the good bit. The speeds that the chip and RAM are running are all at stock voltages!

Yepp! 2235Mhz at stock voltage and stock AMD cooler. 40deg idle and about 45deg under load (I know it don't mean shit). Stable as a rock, haven't used prime coz I hate it, but it completed the Sandra burn-in test without a hiccup.

The RAM really freaked me out, it's Infineon PC2100 cas2 3-3-3 spec. This is also running stock voltage at 172mhz cas2 2-2-5.

Unlike a lot of other people, my 8RDA+ rox! Never had any problems at all, even the new NVidia 2.41 nforce drivers run perfectly.

I'm thinking I'm one of the luckiest 2100/8rda+ owners out there.

Which memtest? the Sandra one? Did it! works.

Been running at this speed for about 1 week, heaps of game playing (jedi outcast, unreal 2003, diablo II etc), MP3 encoding/decoding.

The PC is on 24/7, I tell ya, I'm rapt in this setup.

just bought a 2100+ and have "only" put it up to 2ghz so far. funny thing is, i'm running an nf7-s v2.0 and it doesn't seem to like 200mhz fsb. i figure it's got to do with the lack of adequate cooling inside my case (this is my first OC machine, i don't even have case fans & run with the case's side open) so i'm fairly happy that i can do 1995mhz : 10.5x190, stock hsf too at the moment. i have a Spire Rock, but i'm not too eager to put it on just yet. just want to make sure that i've have some fun with this new cpu before i try putting it on and crush the core accidentally :/.

i've ran prime95 for about half an hour and the cpu temps reported about 50c, so i'm guessing from what you guys are saying here that it was actually more like 60c?

i don't think i'm going to push it too much further until i'm bought some decent case fans, but even at the moment i'm satisfied with the results.

Boots off a floppy ....

Run it for 12hrs if you really wanna be sure the ram isnt producing errors ....

Or even just 1hr.

Angry CRAP!

Thanks a fucken lot Hemerage!

Was running memtest for about 38mins all good, then all of a sudden errors all over the place. So I bombed it out and went to boot into windows... BSOD. So I had to relax the timings, loaded windows, went to fire up IE, system hangs.

Bloody strange after I ran memtest, and it came up with the errors, the RAM would not run at that speed again no matter what I did.

After a lot of stuffing around and a re-ghost!!! I had to settle for 166fsb, RAM in synch, still at cas2 2-2-5. But it ran memtest for 1hr 40mins with no errors.

I'll bloody have to change my sig now.

R3xx: Give your RAM some more juice!! It'll be fine even at the maximum 2.9V (go to 2.7V if you're worried) and will allow you to get higher without errors
