Default P3v4x --- Any issues with SBlive?

I may be getting an sblive soon, are there any known issues with the p3v4x?

Not really however use pci slot 3 have latest drivers and liveware predownloaded and disable a comm port or two. I have 2 nics and the live and all fitted well I even have 1 spare irq. there maybe be a problem with irqs ie sb legacy drivers but I did not have any problem there.

Others just diable sb emulation in the sb properties and sometimes set lpt irq sharing to enabled but you should not have to worry about this.

Drivers that come with my card gave an emu***error went away when I updated drivers. There is another way to remove error but I prefer the driver update.

Tony's right, get the sblive 3.0, tn=he 2.0 drivers on the cd will choke.

Here's a site with good info and links for SBLive Driver updates and more (even Linux):

That's a relief, i've had to move stuff around so much on this thing that i'm beginning to wonder why I even bothered buying it!
Thanks all!

What a mean cat Agg.

re the live slot swapping works better with comm ports disabled and PnP Os installed set to no. Lets bios set the irqs instead of dumb MS windows.

with 2 nics and the live mine fits easy.

Hi,

I would echo the comments regarding slot placement of the SB Live in the P3V4X. Placing it in the second PCI slot (from the AGP) will assure a non-shared IRQ. PCI slot one shares with the AGP slot, slot 2 is exclusive and does not share, slot 3 shares with slot six, so if six is empty it will not have to share, and slots four and five share together with the USB controller. As someone mentioned in a previous post, disabling the onboard com ports seems to straighten out the IRQ assignments. For some reason with the onboard legacy com ports active, stuff has a tendency to all get placed on one IRQ (9 seems to be the favorite) in lumps. This is not a problem for some systems, but many end up with lock-ups in games and multimedia apps when this arrangement is allowed.

Good luck, the SB Live is a great sounding card.

I'm using a Volcano II with AS II
I think the temp was around 35-40 idle, and about 50 at load... Except the monitor on the p3v4x is a bit out, so it's probably less at load. Those temps were in Celsius BTW.
