one of my friends wants to upgrade his Celeron 633 to a Celeron 1GHz, and wants to know whether this board will support it....
I am certain it does, but he still wants confirmation of that.... or what would a Celeron 1GHz be equivalent to in P3 speed (a c1000 would run as fast as what speed p3?) |

Dean, I would check the Intel site to see if there is a BIOS update, which includes cD0 stepping microcode. If there is, then the chip should work fine.
To compare it to a P3, it should preform roughly the same as a 100MHz FSB P3 800e in most things.

oh yeah
thanks a lot ![]() I'll try and see if we can get it working, if not, then If I can find a new P3 866 at a reasonable price, then I'd recommend that.... but I am pretty sure the Celeron will be used... the board is revision 105, and it is about 15 months old.... |

well, although Intel's website doesn't say it supports the 1GHz Celeron, he bought one, and tried it today, and it works sweet
![]() I think he bought it for only $165 as well
