I installed RH9 last nightr and went about installing Licq until I found out I need the qt GUI libraries installed to use it...
So I figured no problem and got the package to install... so I've run a make on it... and its been compiling for close to 6 hours now... lots of includes, gcc's, yuou konw the drill..... Is this normal? The actual install took all of 45 mins (Redhat I mean), installing Apache took all of 5 mins.. So its not a CPU speed thing (Athlon 800)....

QT does take a long time to compile, but I thought it would have been less than 6 hours on an Athlon 800. As long as you see that the compile is going ok it should be finished soon. QT takes under 2 hours on my XP2100 I think.
If you get sick of waiting, Redhad should have the qt libraries on the install cd's as RPM's that don't need to be compiled. Should only take a minute to install those. |
