Beyer DT231
Sennheiser HD497
Philips HP890

The Philips have the biggest bling factor out of them, Beyer has the smoothest all round sound, Sennheiser has a more energetic sound but is the least comfortable. Build quality would be Beyer, Philips, Sennheiser.

I'm sorry Mr. Beyer, but I find them good.
Maybe not for you.. but it does the job for me, infact I got the 700 but like the 500 more, better than the 700 for me if not the same

The Sony DJ series of headphones are renowned for being terrible value for money.
They are outperformed by the Sony V7506 and V6 (which is hard to find here in oz, but easily imported). They are built poorly, have mediocre to terrible sound quality and cost 2-3 times what they are worth. The V700DJ is infamous for being terrible value for money, the V500 is infamous for being mediocre value for money.

You can find headphones from just about every single manufacturer that outperform them, all it takes is a little listening around.
This isn't just my opinion, it's the opinion of anyone who's done a decent bit of listening around with headphones. There is NO reason to buy the Sony DJ line of headphones unless you have some kind of attatchment to Sony, or you really don't care about sound quality or value for money.

Why settle for "does the job" when you can get something that sounds better and costs less?

I'm not just talking Beyer either, Sennheisers HD280pro is better, the Ultrasone HFI-650 series is better, Grados are better, AKG's equally priced headphones are better.. the list goes on.

Of course at the end of the day, if you're happy... that's all that matters.

I'll give another recommendation for the Phillips HP890's
Had mine for around a year and a half now and they are the most comfortable headphones I have found. Sound quality is great for the price, the only factor is the looks... they are BIG. If you can put up with the huge can factor, then I strongly suggest them.

Oh the crazy headphone jargon you kids have! What's a bling factor? Some wild response curve or something??

[Edit] BTW, I see you don't sell the Phillips ones, or am I missing something?

the fvcking HD280Pro's are awesome!! I know I would have got them instead of the Sony's if I knew where to get them, no luck looking for one in sydney CBD. And also, I get 27% off the mark price from sony products (since the start of this month) cos I just knew that my Aunt's friend works for Sony..

but again, HD280Pro owns all but it comes with an onwing price too..

the bling factor?

like, check out the gold rims on my mercedes as they go 'bling' in the sunshine

or my watch, with the diamonds reflecting a 'bling' to the underprivaliged and undercool...

or the 'bling' off outrageously large hiphophomey chains i've got hanging round my neck, flashing off the the rear view window disco ball.

thought that one was pretty easy.

just think magpies, glittering stuff, bling bling.

I paid $150 for my Sennheiser HD497's. I wanted Beyers, but the Senn's were more readily available at JB Hifi

Initially, they're not particularly stellar - you need to burn 'em in for a couple days. The sound is very Sennheiser; Warm, punchy bass, nice energetic treble, but overall quite relaxed sound that you can listen to for hours and hours, or until your ears get too sore...

Some people care more about bling factor than sound
Like riced up cars.. doesn't matter if they don't perform, as long as they have plenty of type-r stickers and yellow trim.

And no, I don't sell the HP890s, I do own a pair that I don't listen to anymore though. They have a few issues that I don't want to have to deal with in terms of sales, plus I believe the Beyer DT231 outperforms them.... not to mention you can get them just about anywhere

IMHO the Ultrasones spank the HD280pros bigtime, plus they don't have nearly the +10 dork factor the sennys give you when you're wearing them.
That 27% discount you get off Sony stuff brings it down to about what it's worth, but even then it's still worth considering the alternatives

wonder how much are the ultrasones in America.. the MDR-V700dj cost around 120US from a dj magazine i was looking at, that around 160-180AUD.. AUD is getting stronger each day but prices dont go down... and im pretty sure no one will complain about the SONY-DJ series if it wasnt for the 340 AUD retial price... the price when it was first released... its just absurd!

b@stards..
