Default Best L1 linking material

ive tried various 'lead' pencils, with varing results on my Duron850...with the two ive tried, i have not been able to make the multiplier 7 or 7.5 times, which is what i want....yet 6 6.5 & 8 as well as all >8.5 work fine.

Can someone enlighten me on the best material (pencil type) to use to link the L1's........and wether the correct type of graphite pencil will correct my non existant 7 or 7.5x multiplier problem

Appreciated

I just used a sharp HB pencil and joined all the L1 links.
I use the KT7 BIOS to set the multiplier.

I'm probably not a real OCer as I did this about 10 months ago and havn't touched the CPU/Heatsink since

Talking could be the cpu

any B type pencil should be adequate really. it might just be your cpu unable to reach those levels you want...

if you don't mind spending a little money, i can recommend conductive paint. After a while the pencil lead may come off, where as the conductive paint will stay on until you take it of with some isopropanol or similar. This stuff is same as the paint which is used to repair the rear windscreen heater filament and should be available in most car stores or electronic outlets.

Default sticky tape

Just pencli them in and get some sticky tape (sellotape) to stick over the top of them so they dont wear off.

I used a pacer, at first I had a bit of trouble, but I realised a bit of sticker residue was stoping it from working properly. Since then I've unlocked several CPUs with pacer and all where fine. sticky tape if you want it a bit more permanant

Not for the faint hearted, but if you want a permanent job, a circuit repair pen or even better two pack circuit repair kit.
The two pack stuff is like conductive epoxy mix part A+partB together, in about 10 minutes it sets hard.
Need to clean the chip well (even needed with pencil trick if its had a sticker on it) a sharp needle, steady hand and good magnifying glass are also needed as this stuff is permanent, just need a very small amount placed into the gap where the laser cut the bridges.

Pencil works fine, I just used a pacer witha HB lead in it.

The reason that your multipliers are screwed is because you didn't join the L1 bridges properly, even if it looks like you have joined it, rub them out and redo them.

If you have lots of cash lying around, then a conductive pen would be a good choice, but pencil works fine, so no need to spend extra cash...

You pencil lead which has less clay and more graphite content. Those used for art drawing and similar are good. Mine still hasnt worn out yet..after all these months.

I've never had any probs with the pencil trick, try a conductive pen which can apparently be found at Dick Smith, but i didn't have much luck finding one.

So just say, if I don't cross the L1 bridges properly, I will still be able to boot, at my default speed again?
