Default beginner RC car

i got a few mates with entry level electric dirt cars, pretty much where you make the transition from 'toy' to 'machine' i guess

but yeah i'm looking at getting one, i've got about $250 burning a hole in my pocket, so $300 is my ideal limit, but i might be persuaded to shell out up to $400

my brother works at a hobby store right next to melbourne central, so he should be able to get me a discount, and they have a fair range

but what would you guys out their recommend?

keep in mind the $300~ish price tag, electric, needs to be fairly robust, not lightning fast, but pack a bit of power .. also a dirt buggy/truck, and a fairly common model, that he's likely to have in stock

thanks,

rob

edit: also, in my budget, will i be able to get a decent car bundled with a controller?

Perhaps have a look at the Tamiya range, as their electric cars are pretty good and their parts usually easy to find....

Why don't you just ask your brother?

The Super Hornet is a pretty decent little car, younger brother got one ages ago, goes well =)

Plus the're not too expensive to get, I think the're currently $176 at hobbyco, then you just need battery, charger and radio.
