Disabling preview pane in OE?

How does one do this I did it about 6 months ago. however I recently formatted and I forgot the procedure. I did a quick search on these forums for the instructions. However the only refernces I could find where phrases such as "to stop scripts running disable preview pane", no instructions on how to.

Also how do I set OE not view html in a email just text?

Select Layout from the View menu.
