Disclaimer: the search button isn't working and I went through the last few pages but couldn't find anything, so feel free to redirect me to a past thread if necessary.
I've set up a site on my ISP's site (ie members.optusnet.com.au/~blah/index.html) but need to get the site on a .com.au domain (ie www.blah.com.au/index.html). Is it possible to somehow register the domain and use what's hosted on my ISP to do this? I don't need the space or bandwidth of proper hosting (and the associated cost), but I do need the URL to not have all the tildes, ISP crap etc. Does such a service exist? Or can I just use any registrar (ie this is a stupid post...)? Any help would be appreciated. edit: www.blah.com.au/index.html is just an example, not a link... Technically you can use any registrar, then find a DNS forwarding service from someplace else, but really there are enough registrars which offer this service included for free that you should go for one that has it.
http://domains.alternative.net.au/services.php .com.au prices are much higher than .com prices, so unless you're strictly targeted to an Australian audience, it would be more cost effective to buy a .com.
