Ahhh, butter chicken. That's a damn fine dish if ever there was one. Mind you, I'm into the harder stuff these days
.I use to eat out on special occasions maybe twice a year at this Indian restaurant called "Taj Mahaal" or something. It's on Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood, just before Eastland (heading East). They also do take-out, and their meals are delicous. But it's pretty pricey. ![]() Hey Warpig, lay the "killer curry" recipe on me!

Fragie, you ever try Singhs...just around the corner on Nicholson St...damn good food, but take away only.
Man, i'm starting to drool! Might have to check out MY2K sometime, I've always been amused by the name, and see it almost every day, if not twice a day. Indian food is good! Pat.

Since I live north-east-ish, I tend to head out to a local joint - and it happens to be Bhoj. Fabulous stuff and been long recommended. Plenty of awards too.
(they're out in Templestowe if anyone lives around the north-eastern suburbs of Melb).

While we're at it, does anyone know of decent packet/jar mixes for cooking curries at home? Good quality stuff, maybe I have to go to one of them food importer type places (like to ones that sell Asian products etc.).

I eat curry for lunch about 4 times a week.
Best curry I've had in Melbourne is from a little take away on Punt Rd between High St and St Kilda Junction. Mmmmmmmm curry!

I lurv Indian food, this is what happens if you live in Blighty for a few years. Damn hard to find a good indian in down town brisvegas, although Raaga in Newmarket is prolly the best I've had locally. Anyone else recommend for Bris?

![]() They are quite good, they seem to be having a cook off with MY2k who have also lifted their quality I used to go to Kaki de Hati (sp) further up lygon st (near the brothel) but I haven't been there for years now since it got popular. More popular = flavours toned down for the masses. edit: Had a Lamb Vindaloo from Singhs and it had potato in it....... damn I hate it when they use potato as a 'filler'.

Ack...Singh's on Nicholson St.....worst Ive ever had....it was bloody terrible...couldnt finish the Korma...and I LOVE Korma!
My favourites are Tandoori Nights - Sydney Rd Brunswick..near the Cornish Arms..... and the Fitz Curry Cafe on Johnstone St fitzroy..... Both home deliver...mmmmm and Tandoori Nights is even nicer when you eat in...gotta love their banquet deals....yumo! Edit: meant Lygon St...for Singh's...pity the joint they replaced isnt still around.... Last edited by chrisc37; 19th September 2002 at 6:31 PM. |
