Default Mobile Phone Choice

I've just called up Nokia and got a rough price list if I upgrade my handset staying on my $33 a month plan (which I like very much).

(all with 24 month contract)

3310/3310 = $0
8210 = $69
6210 = $149
8250 = $249
8850 = $829 (!!!!)

t29 = $0
t39 = $199

SL42 = $299 (Siemens)

What do you all think is good value for a decent phone? Iknow the 8210 has that stupid screen problem. The 6210 looks a bit stupid. I'm sort of leaning towards the 8250.

Alternatively, I can receive a $10 discount, ($23 a month) for the same plan and keep my original handset (a 3210 with a broken screen). I'd need to source a new phone from somewhere else.

i bet that is optus?

i went for an 8250 and it was a good investment.... way above the old stuff with elastomer screen thingies, so your screen will never fade
plus, the blue lights make for a great torch at night

out of them, i'd go the 8250, know a few ppl who have had them and they seem to be a fairly nice fone even tho both of these ppl have lost them!! one got rolled and got another via insurance and the other went for a swim with it and it didnt come back alive!!!

Yer 8250s realy do rock! Thats a decent price for one (off memory) normal i buy outright so this isnt after much research sorry .

Dont ignore the 6210 its a good phone if you have seen one in real life they dont look as stupid as they do in pictures
Problems with them are-
No changable covers (with out a screw driver set)
Realy bad resale value *shrugs*

But i think its worth the extra ~100 for 8250 if you sell it you would get more than 100 bucks difference so yer.

my 2c

*notice i ignored the ericson just kiding i dont know enough about them to give advice.

i'd say ur gettin a bit of a bad deal..

go vfone for a 6 months contract while maintaining ur number if u have to...

it's much cheaper and u get better phones for a 6 month investment

PLUS,

consider going on a B (optus network) that has high call rates, but only $29 plan for 24 months if you want 24 months plan... $199 for the 8310... cheers =)

free 8250 if u look around! like for $69 in some places on a 33 plan
