That is great!! i just tryed it and it is heaps better than plugging in two different plugs all the time. Because i have to plug in heaphones and a sterio because my card isnt compatable with jacks at the front

try looking on the card for any physical AUX/CD type connections. that'd be the key.
i assume "universal audio jack/flexi-jack" type systems have the controller chip remap the direction of audio signals.

I've just fixed the original photos. Amazing that I still have these photos from 7 years ago on my PC still. After UGBox took a huge dump the images linked in this post went with it. So now I've reuploaded to Photobucket so another generation of overclockers / nerds / geeks can enjoy this mod.

I guess since its stereo, you could also make a stereo mic.
