![]() Most browsers just don't compare with safari on macos X, including firebird .6 - but i'll give .7 a shot, and post a screenshot.

It's ok... though i've only been using it for 10 minutes, so i really don't know.
Speed wise, it doesn't seem any faster than safari - but at the moment i've got several downloads and ftp uploads going, so i haven't tested it properly. I'll get back to you later about it.

Improve Firebird's scrolling: (kudos to rockman from FM for this tip)
Download superscroll from here After installing, restart Firebird, then go to tools->options->extensions->click on superscroll 1.3. ->then click on options- >for directional scrolling, use custom and set the value to 100. ->for scroll wheel, change to custom settings and change the value to 10. then on advance enable smooth scrolling. Now the scrolling is almost as good as IEs

I just go to about:config then change the following values and scrolling in Firebird is smooth as it is in IE.
![]() general.smoothScroll = True mousewheel.withnokey.numlines = 8 mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines = False

Ok. i'd say that firebird is faster on the mac, but not much faster than safari.
Mouse wheel scrolling isn't very enjoyable, even with the tweaks that have been posted here - but the way it uses it's cache is far better than the way safari does. There doesn't seem to be an option to assign different actions to certain buttons. ie: i like to have a click on my mouse wheel open a link in a new tab. There doesn't seem to be this option in firebird. So i've gotta say, it's a little faster than safari, and in my opinion not fast enough to convince me to switch to it. But it's earned itself some real estate on my dock, incase i find a page that safari wont load or something like that.

I still prefer Opera as my default browser. So i "would" use somethin like: F**k Micro$oft Internet Exploiter: Mozilla Firebird | Opera Last edited by deepspring; 3rd November 2003 at 10:28 AM. |

Actually, i'm still using it...
I like the speed of the pages it loads... You can see the page loading - and it doesn't stall anywhere like other browsers do. Wether that's a good net day or a firebird thing, i'll find out in time... I don't like how it uses square buttons. on the mac, all push buttons appear in 'aqua' mode - even in internet explorer. But in firebird, they come out looking like windows 98 - which as a mac user, i've got to say is terrible. I'm still *dying* here without that middle click=new tab option. edit: there's heaps of small things that annoy me also... For example, when there are no windows open in the browser firbird doesn't quit like it does on a PC. There's no problem with that though, because most programs on mac don't quit when you close their windows. However, most programs will open a new window when you click on it's icon in the dock menu, whereas firebird doesn't. (i'm finding things like this all the time). It stil is a good browser though, better than opera, camino, internet explorer, and netscape on mac. It's just got a few things taht need to be fixed before it'll become my main browser.

Disko_matt go to about:config
Then find browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick and set it to true.
