Don't know if the following is any help - at your own risk etc. etc - it may break stuff. The workaround is for any presently non-compatible extension.

Quote:
* Type about:config into Firefox's address bar and click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
* Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean. Make the name of your new config value extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false.
* Make another new boolean pair called extensions.checkUpdateSecurity and set the value to false.
* Restart Firefox.

Why don't you consider configuring keyword searches? It more or less achieves a similar functionality and reduces clutter in your browser.

If I want to search Wikipedia, I just type "wiki the topic I want to search for" in the address bar and off I go!

Two great answers, I'll try them both.
Thanks.

Anyone have any problems with DownloadThemAll and the latest version? It just crashes FF every single time now since the last update.

's all good here, both on Xp SP3 & Ubuntu Gutsy installs of FF.

Had a look on the Mozillazine forums to see if anyone else there is affected?

DownThemAll has a confirmed bug in the latest version where it would set the network connection settings too high making pages time out etc.

Because of that I uninstalled it.

I dunno if its fixed or not but I'm not using it till i know that bug has been fixed.

Thanks guys.

Incidentally I had to do a fresh install today anyways (integrate new XP SP3) so that seems to have fixed this issue anyways.

Default Problem searching with google using firefox

Hey guys I'm having a major issue searching with google ie the search goes on indefinitely. I have google search set as my homepage and so when I press home I have no problem bring up that page and if I click on like news or something it will also bring up those pages no prob but as soon as I try to search something it just doesn't want to load. I've tried uninstall and reinstall and that didn't help, I've restored windows to the last possible restore I could and still no go. Occasionally I can do google searches using IE but that sometimes screws up too. Before I reformat and I was wondering if anyone could give suggestions. I was thinking virus etc but my norton 360 seems to think everything is dandy. Any suggestions?

Just a heads-up for those who aren't using this add-on yet: PermaTabs is a handy add-on for those tabs you ALWAYS want open. They won't close, even when you close all tabs. Open Firefox, they are there and coloured to indicate they are permanent (and with no X close button).

I personally use this add-on for just one page. OCAU's "iSpy" live update of threads being posted, page. I'm sure you have more specific uses!

Cheers,
Dan

I changed the version number in the install.rdf in this version of Firesomething and it now works in 3.05b under my install of Ubuntu 8.04 - just modify the "3.03b" to "3.05b".

YMMV etc. etc.

It is important to have the browser re-branded every time it starts -
no, really it is!!

Does anyone find that v3.0b5 is more CPU intensive that v2?

It's annoying that it just slows to a crawl sometimes, but I can't be bothered to uninstall to check

BTW I'm using only 2 plugins: Adblock Plus and Mouse Gestures Redox

Not in this one but I've had something similar in a previous one.

Can anyone link me to the OCAU extension which displays a whole lot of links to pub etc. in a drop-down menu? Can't seem to find it.
