My rate has dropped recently as I have been doing a bit of crunching on the side for another project which is just starting. Plus my monitor has been mucking up for some time and I finally rang up HP service to try and get it repaired. Phew! I have never spoken for so long to so many different Indian gentlemen. What an ordeal. They say they are sending me a new one but I'm not sure how that is possible because I thought Trinitron screens are no longer made. Fingers crossed and I'll see what happens.

My computer will be working a bit more on Climate Prediction from now on though, because I would like to finish this Sulphur Model and have another go at one of the newer Coupled Models. Their large size makes them a good challenge for me to complete.

Roccoll was a large contributor to this team and now that he is winding down it is certainly affecting the team's total output.

More Boxen sounds good, I'll be interested to see how they perform. Your RAC graph will go higher than Mount Everest.

I notice Rocoll's points starting an upward surge, are we back to doing CP?

I'm still dealing with hardware problems. so right now I would be an easy target!

I just bought a car (to replace the one that was stolen). I have been trying to find info on LPG or CNG gas conversions but there is very little info on the web.

But I also just got some new RAM (some nice TCCD stuff) which means now I have all the parts needed for that box that has been offline for a couple of months.

I was going to run 64bit linux on it. Does anyone know if CPDN runs on 64bit linux (in 32bit mode I'm sure)?

Yes I had CPDN running on 64 bit Ubuntu a while ago, no problems and I could use KBoincSpy instead of Boinc Manager. It was slightly slower than Windows XP though on Slab and Sulphur. I read on the CPDN forums that Linux is also a bit slower with the current HadCM3L Coupled Models.
"On an AMD FX57 mine had 1.44 s/TS in WinXP and 1.52 s/TS in Mandrake 2006 x86-64. On a P4 3.4 GHz mine had 1.84 s/TS in WinXP and 1.93 s/TS in Mandrake 2006." post by geophi.

I have reached 10th place in the team but aNt will probably zoom past me when he starts up again.

I'm back crunching for the BBC's climateprediction models, only cause' at the time when I wanted to download the original, the servers were not responding so BBC swept me up !
Only doing one model at the moment getting 1.373 sec/TS.

That's a very fast machine you have there Rodney. Excellent, 1.373 s/TS is zooming.

The Coupled Models are so big that we all need a 10 GHz+ computer so we could finish them in a month.

Thanks kasi, what system are you running at the moment for this project of climateprediction ?

Athlon 64 3200+ Clawhammer socket 754 @2.25GHz.

Currently about half way through a Sulphur at 2.44 s/TS. I did a Coupled Model for a little while until it crashed and speed was 1.86 s/TS, so a fair whack slower than you.

With the size of these models it makes a big difference and means an extra 23 CPU days for me to complete a Coupled Model compared to your speedster!

No, I was thinking of it a while ago. Other things happening at the moment because I may be moving to the Southern Highlands in a while and house selling and all that real estate stuff is taking priority.

It's 4 degrees in Moss Vale right now, so I might need to buy snowshoes! Good for overclocking up there though, all I would need is a duct from outside to my computer.

Sweet.

Well I have all parts needed for this Linux box. So that should be up and running in the next month or so. When I get time to breath and do PC stuff.

Its getting cold in canberra.... just about time for another heater

Go on Aus ya big wooz it's great in Canberra for overclocking.
Leave the Linux box close to the window in the far room away from the heater and watch it fly.

Just 4 units to go now, with 2 of them to be completed this coming week.
So, who's going to be at the top of the pile?
Aus, Dato or MJ?

I'm finished after 500,000
