hi i just brought an canon s45 digi cam
and don't know about this but the pictures often come out blurry unless my hand is ultra steady or the object is complete stationary even my last digi cam the olympus 3030z which was slower in all aspects of operation didn't produce blurry pics as this maybe my hand is just too shakey...but i really doubt thats the case

These photos mainly indoors?
Or using a really long zoom? Because if that's the case, it's down to your shaky hands most likely. Try taking shots with it on a tripod and compare. |

what sort of metering you using (spot, or multi), what mode are you shooting in? (shutter priority by any chance)?
Never had any problems with blury pictures on a S45 (my father has one and I use it from time to time).

So, less light means longer shutter speeds, which means a much higher chance of camera shake. |

Also, if you ZOOM (optical and/ or physical) - then camera-shake, etc is much greater than normal, irrespective of the lighting conditions. |

yeah i have a similar problem with my A70;
when shooting without flash indoors; which i like to do the camera when set to P often selects fairly long shutter speeds from around 1/4 even up to 1 second at times; thus it is due to a shaky hand often i zoom in after taking the picture on the camera and check for evidence of shake, if there is shake i tend to take the picture again either that or a tripod; which i broke mine lol

Neogeo as a noob to cameraa I had the same problem with my S40 in auto mode.
Until I realised what those green squares mean .Basically I was'nt giving the camera enuff time to focus. Wait until u see those green squares on the screen. Those green squares are what the camera will focus on. Orange sqaures are bad mmmkay

1) Rest the camera on top of a solid object: cars, rocks, chair, table, etc. 2) Press the camera FIRMLY against a vertical object: tree, wall, pole, ... 3) And/ or ... use the delay-camera-release (usually provided so that the camera taker can be included in the photograhed object) 4) (on "proper" camera) use the cable or electronic-remote release 5) Nearly all digital cameras actually "photograph" the photo a short-time after you trigger them; so DO NOT move the camera until it is clear that the delay period is done. AND ... if you can, get the people/ object being photographed, to be still. OR ... if photographing a moving object (runner, car, plane, boat, ... ) - pan the camera (move it in the direction of the moving object before & after you press the button), so that the object is clear (but the background is blurred). BTW: I used to be a newspaper photographer, in the days of 35mm ... so long ago! |
