I haven't been able to find a similar topic.
Just wondering if anyone is running 3 sticks of 512meg ram in Windows XP Home.. I have not been able to run it stable and crashs a bit. When i go back to 1 gig it is ok. the systems were a GA 7N400 Pro2 and GA 8S648FX - I tired both Kingston 3200 and some generic 3200 ram.. I not sure if it is a problem with Windows or a Hardware limitation. Cheers Ed. Last edited by 11101101; 22nd November 2003 at 1:01 PM. |

You shouldn't have any problem software wise, I'd be looking at your hardware first. When is crashes, does it blue screen? What is the stop error reported?
I run 3 x 512Mb sticks no problems at all with XP Pro.

Thnx for your help
no Blue screen - had run 3dmark 2001 to check stability on a fresh install and the computer would reboot during the benchmark. When in windows again give a Error Report. It might just be the underlying Hardware then.. |

Next time it crashes, it should give you a blue screen.

The dimm slot on your motherboard could be faulty.
But it sounds like a hardware problem for sure.

This isn't a windows problem, its highly likely its a hardware problem, or as some may call it, a hardware limitation.
Quite a few sites have mentioned that trying to run a motherboard with all 3 DIMM slots full with large DIMMs will often lead to tears, but this is old news now. Take it to one of the appropriate Hardware Forums, and you wil probably get some linkage there.
