Xbox or PlayStation 2? - Page 2

Owning all 4 consoles (Don’t Forget the mighty Dreamcast) from this Gen I can say they are all worthy of a purchase.

Protocol my advice would be for you to hire out the PS2 and Xbox with the games you are interested in the most and play them and at the end of the day choose which console you feel is better suited for you.

Good advice. And don't forget to checkout gamecube as well.

Well I left the GameCube out because he was deciding between a PS2 and XBox but also give the Gamecube a go Protocol; it’s a great console as well.

Hell if you’re a big Fighting game fan like me you can not do without the Dreamcast...

With LANning that I mentioned, I was talking about linking multiple Xbox's together to play multiplayer games like a PC LAN

Good fun with 80cm TV's and Halo action

But yeah, a modded Xbox can do all sorts of extra stuff with LAN's

Yeah, I want to pickupa dreamcast or gamecube for this mad game I've heard about. Its a scrolling spaceship type game, where you can change from black n white, and being a diff colours changes how your enemies effect you. I forgot the name of the game though

im geting an xbox, i have a mod "planned" so that i can play both xbox games and ps2 games, maybe if i can get and adapter i oculd use a ps2 controller as well!!!!! (this mod is experimental, though i doubt it will work)

i figure since ps2 games are dvd format i would install linux and use a ps2 emulator for linux to play the games.

although we are going off topic I will state a few reasons why it won't work just so people don't get the wrong idea.

A. There are no ps2 emulators that run any PS2 games 100%.
B. There are no ps2 emulators that run any PS2 games 10%.
C. The overheads of running linux and a ps2 emulators would be too high. Especially considering the specs of a ps2 emulator that would run games 100% would be much greater than the xbox's.
D. 64mb of Ram on the xbox.

There are plenty of other reasons this wouldn't work. If you want to play PS2 games do not buy an Xbox. PS1, N64, SNES, GENESIS, C64, T16, NES, etc are another story though

Though it is possible to use a PS2 controller on the xbox. I've seen convertors before, but yeah defintily not possible to use a PS2 emulator.

xbox is betta

easier to mod (no bugering around and does betta stuff)
better controllers
better graphics

Of course the games that are on the system shouldn't come into play when buying a console.
