if you have the choice, i would go for dual channel. even if the difference isn't huge, it is worth it imho

Yeah I need to know the performance increase that I will recieve going dual channel, as the boards I am interested in buying - one of them the Gigabite doesn't have the dual option but does have Firewire, so yeah I'll lose the firewire to increase performance if it's a substansial (spelling?) gain.

DC for me has given a very small performance increase, very small........When i installed my second 512 stick, i tried SC first, benchmarked it, then went DC & did the same benchmarks. Perfornace was up slightly, nothing to write home about, but it an improvement albeit.

The bigest performance increase was going from 512 to 1024meg of RAM.......much more responsive when running a heaps of apps at once.

depends on your RAM, if your running 2x pc2100 (ddr266) with your 3200 w/400mhz FSB (which is unlikely) you will get a nice increase in dc than sc but if your running pc3200 (ddr400) you wont see 3/4 of Fuk all difference. If your overclocking and dont want to oc your ram and get your FSB up to 466+ then you may get a gain.

but if your not OC'ing id go the firewire, and by the boards your getting it soesnt look like your going to be a big OC'er. Unless you get the NF7-S V2.0 best board in town. You can tell that cause when you cruze the forums its in alot of Sigs lol.

You could always get the dual channel and just buy a pci firewire but I dunno if this has any effect on your speed.

Or get yourself a specced out P4 board where dual channel actually makes a tangible difference.

God damn Hamlet....God damn Shakespeare.....

On the topic......you will notice the difference if you use a tuned pair of memory sticks...although this has been said to be just a gimmick
