I bought a Fuji A310 a few weeks back but am returning it as I think I deserve better :P
I'm tossing up between the Canon A70 and A80. Don't even bother in suggesting anything else, these are the two options. Apart from the swivel LCD, extra 1.0megapixel and the 'customisable' manual modes, what else am I getting for the extra ~$150? Any reviews (i've read quite a few, most just say get whatever ) or opinions would be appreciated, cheers.

I got an A70 about a month ago ($549), and I'm very very happy with it. It does everything I want it to, and my wife is a bit of a photography entusiast, so she loves playing with the manual modes. Unfortunately I didnt look too closely at the A80 as it was out of my price range.
I reckon get the A70 and spend the extra money on a case, 2000mAh NiMH batteries and charger, and a large CF card. If you have any questions about it, please ask |

The swivel LCD and extra megapixel are enough in my books
![]() Then again, when I made the decision the price difference was much smaller. |

The A70 is going to cost me $80 on top of the old camera, and the A80 will cost $240 on top ($160 extra than a70). I've got 2100mah batteries, and then another $80 credit left from my old 128mb xd card so that can go towards a 256mb CF card...
It's just a choice between the two cameras still ! |

I was going to say that is a big price difference but just looked at a few prices and it is about right.
I used to have a swivel LCD on my G2 and it was handy on occasions and an extra quality megapixel will always be handy. Go for the A80.

The larger size CCD in the A80 is also a strong consideration. The custom manual modes cannot be underestimated, especially if you like to take photos and like to be in controll. Another reason to take the A80 over the A70 is that the A80 does not have the reflective material around the LCD which really anoyed me on the A70 (did no realise how much it anoyed me untill I sold the camera in favour of something else which did not have it).

I bought a A70 in october and am still very happy with it. But I guess I would go the A80 if it were in my price range. But yeh, depends how much you want to spend coz the A70 is an excellent camera.

Keep in mind the cost of a bigger CF card, rechargable batteries and a camera bag if you don't already have them.
If the A80 is just in your budget then you are going to be stuck with 16mb and akaline batteries which sucks ![]() I have just finished buying my A70 and accessories and couldn't be happier. A70 - $475 256mb 40X CF card - $100 4 Sanyo 2100mah - $22 Camera Bag - $17 Thats $614. I know I would personally prefer to spend that much on the A70 with accessories than spend $650 on an A80 with no extra's. But I guess it really depends how much you want to spend. The A80 is definetly gonna be the better camera but I am more than happy with the A70. |

The accessories do add up. I bought an A60 for my GF for christmas.
A60 = $409 128MB 45x compact flash = $61 4x MAHA 2200 mAh = $25 Camera bag = $15 Total = $510, so and extra $101 for accessories. Edit: and the more MP the more your CF cards will cost.
