Spirits I'd say would be fine.

Beer it depends. It should have a packaged or best before date actually. I wouldnt trust most generic australian beer much more than 3 months.

How has it been stored? Is it glass or cans? If its glass, is it clear, green or brown?

Im pretty sure after 2 months it should be fine(some beers even have a "best day to drink" date on them...I will assume however, that you forgot that you had it there, no beer should sit idle for 2 weeks, let alone 2 months

I've had coopers vintage 2002 aging for over a year now. Had many bottles of my homebrew aging too.

Some beer can improve with age (malts further broken down by yeast over time, resulting in interesting flavours). Most beer, ie, VB, Cold, Tooheys etc etc are all filtered and then pasturised. Any yeast content is completely dead. This means the beer wont last much more than 3 months generally. Beer gets lightstruck too (just like wine).

I was drinking a beer today (Fosters) that still had advertising stuff for the 2003 Grand Prix (in March, beer was probably about 12 months old) on the can, tasted fine

I have a couple of cans of "Duff" beer that were released in SA in the early 90's. Almost ten years on, the stuff is probabaly lethal. One way to find out though

Tooheys extra dry and tooheys new ... if its no good ill just stick to the spirits ... plenty of that

I had them for my bday but after my bday i went back to the gold coast. (not all got drunk because we went out afterwards, hence why they are still there)

Back for new years so dont wanna waste em

Happy new years all !
