If you get the 'old' Celeron 1000Mhz (S-Spec SL5XQ) it WILL run, as the processor is a cD0 stepping. However, if you get the new Tualatin 1000Mhz Celeron 'A' (S-Spec SL5ZF), you will need a TUALATIN COMPATIBLE mainboard (Eg: Abit ST6/ST6-RAID, Asus TUSL2, Gigabyte GA-60XET...)

If you want to overclock, I reccomend either a Celeron 900 (Which will usually get to 1200Mhz air-cooled) or a Tualatin 1.2Ghz which will go to 1.5Ghz+ if you're lucky...

They are Tualatins, and need a board that is compatible!

just to clear things up, the 900 wil run on your current mobo, but the 1.2 will not

You can get the 1000a to work on your motherboard, if you get a Powerleap adapter. I have an 1000a installed on an Asus tuv4x 1000@1400 default voltage. I had a cel1000@1333 cd0 (the 1000s are all cd0) 1.95v. Usually the 1000 overclocks somewhat better than the 900 even if both are cd0.

if you DO get a powerleap adaptor, you can run ANY S370 chip

This is an excellent result. Would you care to post the s-Spec information of the processor, along with its date and place of manufacture?? This would be a handy reference for anyone who is contemplating purchasing a 1.0A Celeron with the intention of overclocking it.

Have you attempted to overclock this processor any further, with an increase of the VCore voltage??

Mine is an SL5ZF malaysia chip (retail) for the other details you will have to wait tomorrow when I pull the chip off the motherboard to wiretrick it to an higher voltage. 140 is the highest I tried at default, it freezes on the boot screen at 1500. Voltage adjustment on the tuv4x is crappy as I can only lower the voltage (bios 1004 beta 5), I tried beta 6, but the 4x multiplier doesn't work properly with that bios.

I know of some people who had to increase the voltage a little to get to 1400.

Will post back later with more details.

Sorry if it took so slong to reply.

PROD. CODE: BX80530F1000256SL5ZF
MM# : 839625
FPO/BATCH # : Q138A801
VERSION # : A73437-001 1.475v PACK DATE : 12/07/2001

MADE IN MALAYSIA.

The Malaysian is not suppose to be a good overclocker's chip. I should have tell it so, before overclocking-it.

It is now at 1.5ghz 1.625v Stock HSF perfectly stable.

I can boot into win2k at 1.5v 1.575v and the chip is stable, except for 3dmark2k1 which goes to desktop.

Will get a better hsf and try for more overclock. However, all I can say is that a 50% overclock is pretty good.

Motherbaord ; Asus tuv4-x bios : Award 1004 beta 006. voltage adjustment from 1.475 to 1.675 in .05v increments.

That is a truly fantastic result, glussier, and I believe is on a par with the various 1.2Ghz Celeron @1.6Ghz+ overclocks. The benefit of a higher FSB (150MHz in your case) nullifies any advantage in higher CPU frequency.

Thanks for posting the s-Spec and batch number. For those interested, the CPU was made in week 38 of 2001, in Malaysia (obviously).

At this point in time, I recommend that anyone contemplating on purchasing a Tualatin Celeron with the intention of overclocking it to opt for a 1.0A GHz part rather than the higher rated (1.1A GHz, 1.2GHz, 1.3GHz) parts.

This is the reason behind my post here.

I am yet to hear of a celeron 1A Ghz that is unable to hit 1400Mhz. Many seem to attain 1440Mhz. 1500Mhz is incredible.

I sure hope by ti 500 can handle 100Mhz AGP !

1500Mhz? Jeez! Why do the Celerons overclock so well? I know a guy who has his Celeron 533 at 950Mhz, (or thereabouts), and I am always seeing people with Celeron 500's and 600's etc running at 900 and 1000Mhz, then we have these 1Ghz Celerons at 1300-1400 and beyond, also the 1.2Ghz Celerons at 1.5Ghz and beyond.

Why do they overlcock so well?
