Hi all.
I have just got a pair of Hp 890's and have been using a shite pair of pissy little headphones with a mic (for online gaming) for a while but when i plugged the Hp's in i get a quiet background noise. kind of a buzzing noise which fluctuates when i maximize and minize windows, load up a program, and other things that seem to be "using" bits of the computer (like the CPU or HDD). I dont get this problem with my crappy headphones, but i have also had it with an old amp that i havent used for a while. I have no idea what it could be, maybe a frequency that the Hp's pickup but shit ones dont?. i have a GA-7vax1394 with O/B AC97. any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Do you have access to another sound card? Maybe a Live! card or something else along those lines. A poor sound source is the most likely cause of this background noise. In this case, its the AC97.
