Default Front USB port problem - please help.

Hi guys.

(Please move to the correct forum if this isn't the right one. Thanks).

I bought a GMC X-21 case the other day, and an Abit NF7-S 2.0, but I can't get the front USB ports working.

Both USB headers definately work (I tested both with the USB PCI bracket), so the problem lies with the front USB ports.

I've connected them up as per the motherboard manual (and in the same order as the PCI bracket wires), yet I can't get them working.

There's 2 ports, so 2 x 4 sets of wires...but the thing is - there's a little discrepancy.

As per usual, one set of wires goes:
V - RED
USB- - WHITE
USB+ - GREEN
GND - BLACK

But the other set goes:
V - RED
USB- - BLACK
USB+ - GREEN
GND - WHITE

Even so...the first set (the one that's wired up correctly) won't work.

Any ideas? I'm a little hesitant to use trial and error, for obvious reasons.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Since your USB headers are still okay even after trying them at a time they were "incorrect", then the problem lies with the cables themselves. See if you trace the other end (the ones that basically terminates on the front of the case), they must have come undone. Still both should follow the same colour code.
